International Scientific Conference of students and young scientists “Farabi Alemi” (April 4-6, 2024), dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

8 april, 2024

Every year in early April, the International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Scientists “Farabi Alemi” is organized at all faculties of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. This year, the International Farabi Readings coincided with the 90th anniversary of KazNU.  For most speakers, this is the first experience of delivering a scientific report, and perhaps the first step for a further career in science.
220 reports in Kazakh, Russian and English languages were presented at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology to participate in 10 sections of the conference.

It should be noted that there was submitted a large number of reports devoted to achieving the goals of Sustainable Development Goals 9, 12, 13, 15, relevant for Kazakhstan: combating climate change, environmental protection, industrialization, innovation and infrastructure, careful consumption of raw materials.
Section 1: Modern aspects of catalysis and petrochemistry.
Section 2: Chemical technology of fine organic synthesis and natural compounds.
Section 3: Colloidal chemistry and polymer chemistry.
Section 4: Modern problems of fundamental chemistry.
Section 5: New materials and advanced technologies.
Section 6: Chemical Physics and Materials Science.
Section 7: Pharmaceutical production technology.
Section 8: Modern problems of chemistry and chemical technology.
Section 9: Topical issues of chemical education.
Section 10: Promising areas of chemistry and chemical technology.
The work of sections 1-7 and 9 involved bachelors, 8 sections - masters and doctoral students, and 10 sections - schoolchildren and 1st year students.
Certificates were presented to all participants of the conference, diplomas and gifts to the winners.
The following students were selected among the winners of Section 1 – “Modern aspects of catalysis and petrochemistry”:
1st place - Matkir Zh.M., “The study of porous catalysis by the application of comsol multiphysics 6.1” (supervisor - acting associate professor Vasilina G.K.).
2nd place:
1. Nurim B.D., “Studying the influence of oil content on deemulsification time” (scientific supervisor - acting associate professor Toshtay K.);
2. Pitersky A.E. “The use of metallurgical waste in the catalytic processing of plastic” (supervisor - associate professor Nechipurenko S.V.).
3rd place - Ybaykhan A.M., “Coke production by hydroenriching coal resin” (supervisor - associate professor Smagulova N.T.).
Congratulations to the winners of the conference on their victory and wish them further success!

Chairman of Section 1, Professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry Sassykova L.R.
