From Theory to Practice: KazNU Students Explore the Hospitality Business at DoubleTree by Hilton Almaty

In pursuit of training highly skilled professionals in the hospitality industry, third-year students of the “Restaurant and Hotel Business” educational program at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University visited one of Almaty’s premier hotels – DoubleTree by Hilton. This educational excursion, held on April 11, 2024, under the supervision of Yeldar Nuruly, a Lecturer from the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism, was organized to deepen our students' practical knowledge.

Throughout the visit, the students were highly engaged, asking numerous questions about the hotel's operations and management. These inquiries covered a broad spectrum of topics, from daily operational tasks to strategies for sustainable development and corporate social responsibility. The sales department staff, led by Aizhan Zhetiru, conducted a series of master classes and eagerly shared their knowledge and experience, providing students with a deeper understanding of the real-life aspects of the hospitality industry.

The students not only deepened their knowledge but also established professional contacts with hotel representatives, securing opportunities for future internships and potential employment. The interaction continues even after the visit, with many students actively using messengers to clarify details on topics of interest.

This event is part of our commitment to integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into our educational process. Specifically, we focus on goals such as quality education (SDG 4) and decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), preparing students not only for successful careers but also for responsible business management.
