How to survive in a world of successful success and believe in yourself

Recently, Nazarbayev University hosted the annual meeting of the winners of the programs of the Shakhmardan Yesenov Scientific and Educational Foundation, to which Yulia Sabirova, a lecturer and doctoral student at the Department of Mathematical and Computer Modeling, was invited as a speaker.

Yulia made a presentation on "How to survive in a world of successful success and believe in yoursel". The presentation touched upon the topic of successful success, which is relevant in the modern competitive world, when people create a cognitive distortion of their own inadequacy in comparison with the brilliant success of others. Indeed, in the era of social media development, broadcasting exceptional achievements undermines individual children's self-confidence, or, conversely, in pursuit of an illusory ideal version of themselves, it leads to unreasonable overwork and burnout, both physically and psychoemotionally. The speaker shared examples from her own life, and also gave practical recommendations on how, on the way to a better version of herself, not to compare with others, to maintain efficiency in work without loss of efficiency. Among others, Yulia noted the importance of competent time management, high-quality nutrition, sleep, rest, the importance of an environmentally friendly environment, physical activity and the study of psychology.

The mission of the Shakhmardan Yesenov Foundation is to develop the intellectual potential of Kazakhstan. Annual meetings of the winners are held in order to establish and strengthen ties between the beneficiaries of the foundation, exchange news and create new collaborations.
