The 1st Summer School for students of Xinjiang University (PRC) started at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

The First International Summer School “Environmental Protection-2024” started at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on the topic “Methods of assessing the anthropogenic impact on the environment: geosystems, society, education, culture and worldview”, organized by the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences, for Xinjiang University’s students.

The goal of the Summer School is to create an international youth platform for achieving the UN SDGs by uniting like-minded people on issues of sustainable development and environmental responsibility.

During the summer school, students will study the basic concepts and theories of anthropogenic impact on geosystems; modern methods and means of assessing the anthropogenic impact on the geosystem were demonstrated; factors of influence of anthropogenic activities on society are analyzed and assessment mechanisms are identified; the dynamics of changes in the educational environment are analyzed taking into account the challenges of natural disasters; aspects of the influence of environmental culture on the worldview of young people; assessments of the anthropogenic impact on geosystems were carried out based on modern scientific methods and tools, which will deepen and expand the ecological worldview of young people on the basis of social responsibility; and also activate a joint platform to support the sustainable development of the younger generation based on the SDGs.

It is worth noting that in 2024 the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Xinjiang University signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of geography and remote sensing, which became a driver for strengthening relations between universities.
