KazNU scientists conduct field research
Scientists of Al-Farabi KazNU conduct field research in the western region of the country. Specialists study the issues of sustainable ecological, social and economic development of the region, ecology, preservation of water resources, fauna and flora.
The research work is realised within the framework of the mega project "Sustainable development of natural-economic and socio-economic systems of the West Kazakhstan region in the context of green growth: complex analysis, concept, forecast assessments and scenario"
Teachers of the Department of Geography, Land Management and Cadastre, as well as employees of the Centre for Space Technologies and Remote Sensing of the Earth take part in the field expedition.
The main objectives of the expedition are to study the current state of natural landscapes, identify the degree of anthropogenic disturbance and determine the environmental problems of the region caused by economic activity.
The research is carried out within the framework of SDG 13, which focuses on combating climate change, and SDG 15, which focuses on the conservation of terrestrial ecosystems.
The result of field studies is an assessment of anthropogenic disturbance of landscapes in the region and confirmation of remote sensing data at key sites.
