KazNU and Suleyman Demirel University intensify cooperation

Delegation of Suleyman Demirel University (Isparta, Turkey) visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. During the visit there was a meeting of the Chairman of the Board - Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebaev with the Rector of the Turkish University Mehmet Saltan.

 

Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebaev told guests about the latest achievements of the research university, which rose 67 positions in the QS World University Rankings on 9 indicators, from 230 to 163 place. The head of the university emphasised that branches of foreign universities - MEPhI (Russia) and NWPU (China) - had been established on the basis of KazNU.

The leading university of the country actively cooperates with 37 universities in Turkey, including Istanbul University, Serrahpaşa University, Akdeniz University, Ankara University and others. KazNU has a long-standing mutually beneficial partnership with Suleimen Demirel University. For many years there is a programme of attraction of foreign scientists to teaching activity (Erasmus+, projects of faculties). For the last academic year the total number of invited foreign professors involved in the educational process was 137 people.

In connection with the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan K.K. Tokayev, a branch of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi was opened in Istanbul on 11 May 2022.

In February 2024, students of KazNU successfully completed an internship at Suleimen Demirel University. Within the framework of Erasmus+ programme, an agreement between the partner universities on the implementation of the academic mobility programme was concluded.

At the end of his speech Zhanseit Kanseitovich expressed his confidence that cooperation between the two higher educational institutions has great prospects, and readiness to support interesting initiatives.

In turn, the rector of Suleyman Demirel University Mehmet Saltan spoke about the infrastructure and features of the campus of the university, which is among the top 20 best universities in Turkey. Currently, 40 students from Kazakhstan have entered the Turkish university and are successfully studying. The guest of honour stressed that they are distinguished by special persistence and diligence in their studies. And in general, the direction of academic mobility brings good results.

At the end of the meeting the parties discussed directions of further cooperation, in particular, attracting professors from Turkey to Al-Farabi KazNU to teach and popularise the Turkish language, exchange of students and implementation of joint scientific projects.
