Orientation events for first-year students took place
The first day of the new academic year started at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. This year, the leading university of the country chose 7228 students. Of these, 5,974 students enrolled for bachelor's studies, 771 for master's studies and 483 for doctoral studies.
On the first day at the university, representatives of the Ministry and the management of KazNU met with young students in a free format.
During the conversation, the deputy chairman of the Committee of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Higher Education and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akerke Abylaikhan, made a speech and wished the students success in the new academic year.
In turn, the Acting Vice-Rector for Social Development Sabit Suatai gave warm words of greetings of the Chairman of the Board - Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebaev.
The Vice-Rector thanked the students for choosing Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and wished them an active student life.
In his speech he also told about today's achievements of KazNU and dwelled on the work that will be done in the future for the benefit of young people.
‘Al-Farabi KazNU has the status of a research university. There is a great opportunity to do science in the higher education institution. KazNU takes 163rd place in the QS world ranking. This is an indicator of fruitful work carried out in the university. For the sake of your future and development of the country it is necessary to first get a quality education and become a qualified specialist. I wish you success in the new academic year,’ the Vice-Rector said.
Also for the Day of Knowledge, the deans of 16 faculties met with first-year students and congratulated them on the start of the new academic year.
‘I dreamed of studying in KazNU since 9th grade. After graduating from the 11th grade I entered the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management, speciality ‘Ecology’. My dream came true. The sphere of ecology is very important for our country, that is why I chose this profession. I will do my best to become a professional in my field,’ says Aiken Abylkasym.
It should be noted that a number of events are also organised in the hostels of KazNU campus as part of the successful adaptation of first-year students. A historical quiz and a music evening were organised for young people.
