In KazNU presented open library corner ‘K-Chang’

At the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi the opening ceremony of the І international branch of the open library ‘K-Chang’ of Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea took place.

The event was attended by: Acting Vice-Rector for Social Development Sabit Suatai, Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province Lee Chol Woo, Chairman of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Shin Hyuk Wan, Executive Director for Culture and Arts Development of the Gyeongbuk Art and Culture Foundation Choi Jong Soo, General Director of New World Company Lee Sung Hee, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty Park Nae Chon, Consul Choi Moon Hee and others.

Today Al-Farabi KazNU maintains close ties with 59 universities in Korea, implements joint projects and develops the direction of academic mobility.

Currently, the Faculty of Oriental Studies closely co-operates with Hankuk University of Foreign Languages, Dunguk University, Gangneung-Wonju University. High-level ties have also been established with Seoul National University. A dual degree programme has been developed with Gangnam University and Busan University of Foreign Studies.

This year marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of KazNU and the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Korean department. In the new library corner at the international open space ‘K-Chang’, 500 books in Korean language are exhibited.

‘It is an access to new knowledge for specialists and students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Department of Far Eastern Studies, and the Department of Korean Studies. The library project at the K-Chang International Open Space, presented by Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, is a fruitful result of our comprehensive ties,’ Sabit Suatai, Acting Vice-Rector for Social Development, emphasised.

As part of the ceremony, a presentation of ‘K-Chang’ was made. It is a reading corner for all students to familiarise themselves with books on various topics and broaden their horizons.  The good initiative of the delegation led by the Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Mr Lee Jeol-woo, was supported by the university authorities, strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.
