Co-operate with a Tuvan scientific journal
In Al-Farabi KazNU a meeting of the university administration with the Doctor of Philosophy, editor-in-chief of the journal ‘New Studies of Tuva’, member of the editorial board of the Kazakh scientific journal ‘Turkic Studies Journal’ Lamazhaa Chimiza Kuder-oolovna (Belgium) took place, where the prospects of joint publication of the scientific journal were discussed.
The guest of honour was welcomed by the member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activities Zhamila Aitzhanova. She spoke about the activities of Al-Farabi KazNU as a research university. Today the university is actively engaged in research in the field of humanities and social sciences. Scientific papers published at the university cover a wide range of topics, including cultural studies, sociology and ethnography, which makes it an ideal partner for joint initiatives.
‘There are 24 scientific journals functioning in Al-Farabi KazNU. Of these, 21 journals are included in the list of publications recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the publication of the main results of scientific activity. In 2023 several scientific journals of KazNU were included in the international database Scopus. In particular, the journal ‘Physical Sciences and Technology and ’Bulletin of KazNU. Series of Mathematics, Mechanics, Informatics’. New projects in this area are very relevant, - emphasised the Vice-Rector in her speech. - I am sure that the publication of a joint journal will bear fruit, becoming a stimulus for active promotion of KazNU publications in the world scientific community’.
Editor-in-Chief of the journal ‘New Studies of Tuva’ and member of the editorial board of the Kazakh scientific journal ‘Turkic Studies Journal’ Lamazhaa Chimiza Kuder-oolovna noted that she was glad to see the beginning of co-operation, which will help expand the horizons for both sides. ‘It is impossible to be in the same information field all the time, it is necessary to read publications of scientists of our countries, especially when it comes to related peoples. It is necessary to communicate, share experience, to be mutually enriched, that is why I am glad to start our common project’.
It should be noted that the journal ‘New Studies of Tuva’ publishes the results of comprehensive research in the field of Tuvan studies. It is included in various citation databases such as Scopus, Web of Science. Its rating in 2023 was 96 percentile (Q1) in the branch ‘Arts and Humanities: History’, ‘Social Sciences: Cultural Studies’ - 89 percentile (Q1), ‘Social Sciences: Anthropology’ - 80 percentile (Q1). The journal applies double-blind peer review to improve the quality of articles and maintain a high level of scientific publications.
The co-operation with the journal ‘New Studies of Tuva’ is in the format of co-publishing, which is a common practice in international scientific periodicals. Within the framework of the partnership, a column of comparative Tuvinian studies ‘Dialogue of Cultures’ will be created. It is devoted to the analysis of cultural interactions and exchange of experience between Tuva and Kazakhstan, which is especially relevant in the context of globalisation and cultural diversity.
