KazNU hosts a joint international forum with NWPU
The joint international research forum of Al-Farabi KazNU and North-West Polytechnic University (NWPU), dedicated to the 90th anniversary of KazNU, started at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of KazNU.
The purpose of the forum is to create an advanced platform for knowledge exchange to discuss modern problems in the field of science and technology and to develop their solutions.
Opening the international forum, Zhamila Aitzhanova, pro-rector for scientific and innovative activities of KazNU, said: ‘Today's forum has become possible thanks to the agreement signed in May 2023 during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev to China. The opening of a branch of Northwestern Polytechnic University in the country is an important step in strengthening cooperation in science and education, in line with the strategy of President Tokayev, announced in his address on 2 September 2024. At the same time, the forum will become a united opportunity to share experience, knowledge, create scientific projects that contribute to solving global issues. Through joint activities we can achieve significant results in the field of academic and scientific research. Our mutual co-operation opens new horizons and opportunities for innovative development,’ the Vice-Rector said.
For his part, Fu Qianggang, Dean of the Research School of Engineering and Materials Science at NWPU, said: ‘Today, Northwest Polytechnic University is the only university in China offering an interdisciplinary and professional open research area that trains specialists in aviation, aerospace, navigation. In 2017, it was listed as one of the best universities and was accepted as a member of the International Alliance of Universities. At the same time, we intend to jointly train specialists in the field of high technologies, innovations. It is a great honour for me to take part in today's event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of KazNU. This is my first visit to Al-Farabi KazNU. I am amazed by the history and scientific environment of the university, and I am confident in the further development of the branch's activities,’ the dean said.
The forum, which brings together more than 100 scientists and experts in the field of new technologies and innovations, is attended by representatives of the NWPU, scientists and students from Russia, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. The forum, which will last until 28 September, consists of two main parts. In the first part is planned conference ‘Modern problems of condensed matter physics, nanotechnology and materials science’ dedicated to the memory of the outstanding scientist, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Shamshi Sarsembinov. In the second part - innovative conference ‘One Belt - One Road’ on genomics of materials and intellectual sciences.
Within the framework of the forum the participants will exchange experience, discuss topical issues of modern aviation, new technologies, innovations and propose ways to solve them.
