KazNU and Necmettin Erbakan University signed an agreement

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev held a meeting with the Rector of Necmettin Erbakan University Cem Zorlu.

 

During the conversation, the parties discussed the status and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the field of science and higher education.

Welcoming the guest, Zhanseit Tuimebaev expressed gratitude to the Turkish side for its commitment to building partnership with KazNU. In his speech, the rector also noted the positive dynamics of interaction with universities in Turkey, emphasising the importance of further strengthening relations with Necmettin Erbakan University.

‘Al-Farabi KazNU today closely cooperates with 46 universities and organisations in Turkey. In the 2023/24 academic year, 17 faculty members, 99 doctoral students, 47 master's students and 18 undergraduate students visited universities in Turkey for professional development, research internships and exchange of experience. Currently, 61 Turkish students are studying at KazNU, which indicates a growing interest in the educational programmes of the university,’ said Zhanseit Tuimebayev.

In turn, the rector of Necmettin Erbakan University Cem Zorlu expressed confidence that further fruitful partnership will open exclusively new opportunities for the parties. The guest of honour stressed that the institution of higher education attaches great importance to the successful implementation of the internationalisation process and the development of sustainable and feasible strategies in this direction.

‘Since its foundation, Necmettin Erbakan University has acquired an international identity in a short time and established an external relations co-ordination in 2019.   We aim to integrate students and staff into international platforms through mobility and exchange programmes including Erasmus+, Mevlana and Farabi. We have increased the quota for international students by 100 per cent and welcome around 2,000 international students from dozens of different countries each year. Between 2014 and 2020, more than 500 students and 100 employees have benefited from Erasmus+ exchange programmes,’ said Cem Zorlu.

At the end of the meeting, the rectors of the two universities signed a memorandum of understanding and co-operation.
