A lecture by Uldanai Maksutovna Bakhtikireeva, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Russian Language and Intercultural Communication of the Institute of Russian Language of Patrice Lumumba PFUR, was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The lecture was devoted to the topic ‘On the subjectivity of the researcher’.
The event gathered students, doctoral students, and professors interested in deepening their knowledge about the role of the researcher in scientific activity.
Professor U. Bakhtikereeva highlighted key aspects related to subjectivity in writings, including personal and cultural factors influencing the research process. In her speech, she emphasised that understanding the researcher's subjectivity is an important condition for the formation of qualitative and objective scientific knowledge. Every scientist can make a statement by using subjectivity in their research, thereby transcending the boundaries of the scientific genre. It can also affect the citability of scientific works, and the scientist should emphasise the importance of personal position when choosing research objects and methods. The lecturer also spoke about subjective factors that influence the formation of scientific conclusions.
‘Subjectivity is not limited only to professional skills and knowledge,’ the professor noted. - It includes personal values, motivation and cultural context, which can significantly influence the choice of research topic and approaches to its study’. The lecturer shared sources and works of famous authors, which in one way or another influenced her views and thinking. These are books by famous scholars - G.Grachev, N.Melnikov, M.Tlostanova and others.
The participants of the lecture actively discussed the presented ideas, asked questions and shared their experience. Professor Bakhtikereeva answered many questions concerning key aspects of the researcher's subjectivity in scientific activity, practical application of theoretical concepts in research activity.
The lecture was organised by the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies of KazNU and the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature of KazNU.
