KazNU and the University of Grenoble-Alpes to open a joint centre

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was visited by the delegation of Grenoble-Alpes University headed by the Consul General of France in Almaty Fabrice Neveu.

 

The foreign guests included Catherine Carras, Director of the French Language Centre at the University of Grenoble-Alpes, Saskia Mugnier, Director of International Relations at the Faculty of Language and Literature, and Agnès Bousset, Director of the Geoenergy Centre.

During the visit, the honoured guests got acquainted with the activities of KazNU and held talks with the working group headed by Altay Kazmagambetov, member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.

The parties discussed issues of further development of cooperation, in particular the opening of a joint centre for the study of French language on the basis of KazNU.

During the meeting Altay Kazmagambetov informed Fabrice Neveu about the rich experience of scientific and educational interaction between KazNU and universities, institutes and organisations of France.

‘To date, the partnership between the two countries is progressively developing and deepening. Jointly with the University of Lorraine, a double degree programme ‘Mechanics and Energy’ and an educational programme ‘Oil and Gas Engineering’ are being implemented. International scientific projects were realised at the Faculty of International Relations with the University of Le Havre. Under the programme ‘Abai-Vern’ 6 master students are studying at the University of Champagne-Ardenne, at the University of Lorraine 14 master students and 3 doctoral students. For several years, Professor of the University of Le Havre Pierre Chabal reads lectures and conducts research work in KazNU’, - said the Vice-Rector.

In turn, French Consul General Fabrice Neveu, noting the positive dynamics of growth of bilateral relations, proposed to open a joint centre on the basis of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of KazNU.

‘The new place will be an excellent platform for studying French language and culture, as well as strengthen ties between universities,’ said Fabrice Neveu.

In general, the participants of the meeting noted the prospects for further co-operation between KazNU and the University of Grenoble-Alpes.
