In Al-Farabi KazNU the meeting of directors of departments of the university with the delegation of the European Socio-Economic Committee (EESC), which arrived on a working visit, took place.
Director of the Department of International Cooperation of KazNU Yesbol Omirzhanov told the guests about the activities of the leading higher education institution of the country, focusing on the direction of cooperation with authoritative international organisations and communities.
Head of International Relations of the confederation of trade unions of professional and managerial staff Markus Penttinen, thanking for the warm welcome, told about the activities of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), which is an advisory body of the European Union, representing civil society in Europe.
Within the EU institutional framework, the EEUSC provides representatives of European socio-professional interest groups and others with an official platform to express their views on EU issues. The EEUSC External Relations Unit (REX) engages in dialogue with civil society organisations from non-EU countries and regions with which the EU has official relations. Relations with Kazakhstan are part of this dialogue.
‘The purpose of the mission is to enable our members to gain an insight into the situation of civil society in Kazakhstan and to highlight organisations with which ECEC could establish and maintain relations in the future,’ Markus Penttinen stressed.
The parties further discussed areas of co-operation and outlined prospects for mutually beneficial partnership.
