September 5 is a special date of our multinational country: the Day of Languages of the Peoples of Kazakhstan. Teachers of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University traditionally organize events of various formats in order to explain to students from abroad the significance and importance of this date. Foreign students undergo language training at the department: they study Kazakh and Russian languages here. Taking into account the level of language proficiency of the audience, teachers prepare presentations, as well as messages informing listeners about the history of the date. The attention of foreign students is focused on the personality of educator, linguist, literary critic, Turkologist, poet, translator, public and political figure Akhmet Baitursynov, on whose birthday the Day of Languages of the Peoples of Kazakhstan is celebrated, as well as on how the languages of multinational Kazakhstan are developing. Students are offered an informative excursion to the House-Museum of Akhmet Baitursynov, located on the street of the same name. Foreign citizens perceive information about the language policy of our state with great interest.
