University-wide clean-up day was held in KazNU
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a university-wide clean-up day organised as part of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals announced by the United Nations.
Students, teachers of 16 faculties and university staff took part in the clean-up day. The participants were actively engaged in cleaning the campus territory, tidying up green areas and flowerbeds.
The event not only contributed to the beautification of the campus, but also emphasised the university's role in supporting global sustainability initiatives.
Participants of the clean-up day actively joined the process, realising the importance of such initiatives to improve the environment and create comfortable conditions for study and work. One of the participants of the clean-up day - Alen Seitov, a 3rd year student of the Faculty of Journalism of KazNU, noted the necessity of the clean-up days initiated by the university: ‘Such events remind us of the importance of ecology and that each of us can make the world around us a little better. When you see how students, teachers and staff of KazNU unite for a common goal, you realise how important it is to have a sense of unity and responsibility for the place where you study and develop. This is not just cleaning the territory, it is a symbol of caring about their environment and the future of the university’.
The organisers of the event stressed that the clean-up day not only contributes to improving the appearance of the university, but also fosters a sense of responsibility among young people for preserving the cleanliness of the environment. The university-wide clean-up day was an important step in the implementation of the university's strategy to integrate SDGs into the educational process and daily practice.
The subbotnik was held within the framework of the republican ecological action ‘Clean Kazakhstan’.
