An autumn fair was organised at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The event dedicated to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals #2, 11, 17 was attended by the university's management and staff, faculty and youth students.
At the fair, students and teachers purchased agricultural goods, food, handicrafts and much more at affordable prices. The students of the university presented unique handicrafts made by their own hands to the visitors.
‘Kazakh carpets are divided into two main types: lint-free and pile carpets. Today I brought a lint-free carpet, which I knitted myself, to the fair at KazNU. I have 56 years of work experience in this sphere. Every year I visit the fair at KazNU named after Al-Farabi. The aim is to inform young people about the national Kazakh heritage, attract attention and teach students the technique of carpet embroidery’, - said entrepreneur Roza Uysinbayeva.
Sunday's event is organised to coincide with the Day of Higher Education Workers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, International Day of the Elderly and Teacher's Day.
‘Today, the fair at the university is being organised to a high standard. Various goods at affordable prices are offered for the youth. It is considerably cheaper here compared to market prices. Besides, these are products that the farmers have grown themselves and handicrafts of artisans. It is very effective for both students and teachers,’ says Aizere Kuanyshovna, a second-year student of the Faculty of Physics and Technology.
During the autumn fair, a game ‘Aksuyek’ was organised for student youth, which gave the audience a good mood. The sporting event promotes the values of a healthy lifestyle and increases physical activity.
