Merits and awards of our guest can be enumerated for a long time. His films are known all over the world. This is a man of amazing purity, depth and great intelligence’, - emphasised Bayan Umirbekovna.
It is noteworthy that the event was attended not only by students and teachers of the Faculty of Philology, but also by American students studying Russian and Kazakh languages on the programme ‘Flagship’ in KazNU. Emphasis on this was made by the curator of the programme - Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Eleonora Duisenovna Suleimenova. ‘This year 30 students from the USA are studying at our university under the programme ‘Flagship’. There is a course ‘Country and People’ in the programme, and we start it with the first lecture of Bakhyt Gafuovich Kairbekov about yurt. I think it will be interesting for all listeners, as the yurt embodies the worldview of the Kazakh people’, - Eleonora Duisenovna noted.
‘It would seem that everything is known about the yurt, and it is very difficult to surprise with something. But I once wrote a thesis ‘Poetic Typology of Olzhas Suleimenov’ a long time ago. Since then, 40 years have passed, and the topic has become the main one. I made films devoted to national rituals and traditions of Kazakhs. Today I will present my point of view on the nomadic world,’ Bakhyt Gafuovich began his lecture. He outlined his understanding of the symbolic and sacral meaning of the yurt, the steppe and the nomadic life of the Kazakhs, which embodied his worldview and philosophy.
The lecture was followed by a discussion in which students and faculty members actively participated.
