The Sustainable Development Goals are a kind of call to action emanating from all countries of the world – rich and poor, advanced and underdeveloped. They are aimed to improve the well-being and protection of our planet. Most modern States recognize that poverty eradication measures must be taken in parallel with efforts to address a range of issues in the fields of education, health, social protection and employment, as well as in combating climate change and protecting the environment.
Today, more than 10% of people still live in extreme poverty, and majority of the working population have a job that does not guarantee them a decent standard of living. The financial situation of others is important for everyone, since the well-being of all people is interconnected. The growth of the poor population harms economic growth, undermines social cohesion, intensifies political and social conflicts and causes high crime rates.
SDG 1 is aimed at eradicating extreme poverty and contains specific targets for poverty reduction. In such conditions, each person should not remain indifferent, making his or her own contribution to solving these tasks.
