Rector of KazNU received the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebaev met with Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia Jaap Ora.

 

Rector thanked the guest of honour for the visit and informed about the activities of the research university, which successfully operates 16 faculties, 8 research institutes, 140 research laboratories, and 29 scientific centres.

More than 4000 foreign students from 40 countries of the world are studying in KazNU today, which are actively involved in social and scientific life of the university. Also today the university implements 60 double-diploma educational programmes. The University is actively working on the creation of branches of leading foreign universities. There are already branches of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Russia) and Northwestern Polytechnic University (China) operating on the basis of the university. The branches of KazNU in Istanbul (Turkey) and Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) have been opened and are successfully functioning, it is planned to create a branch of KazNU on the basis of Omsk State University (Russian Federation).

KazNU students take part in academic mobility programmes. Over the past three years, this opportunity was used by more than 250 bachelor's students and 1500 master's students and 750 RhD doctoral students in the CIS, Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. Thus, two doctoral students of KazNU in 2020 underwent scientific internship at Tallinn University. In 2019 academic year, the university attracted a professor from Estonia Peter Mursep to give lectures.

‘An important step is the development of partnership in science and higher education. It is necessary to intensify cooperation with Estonian universities and in the future to implement large-scale projects, including international conferences, exchange of teachers and students, implementation of joint scientific projects,’ Zhanseit Kanseitovich emphasised.

In turn Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia Jaap Ora, thanking for the warm welcome, noted that Estonia has enough strong universities. Establishing ties with Estonian universities has great potential for both sides.
