Visit of scientists from Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University (Türkiye)
On October 18-19, 2024, the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology was visited by Prof. Dr. Serpil Yenisoy, Head of the Analytical Chemistry Division, Department of Chemistry, Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University, and Dr. Hatice Ergin, Deputy Director of the Scientific Industrial and Technological Application and Research Center, Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University. During the visit, in collaboration with the staff of the “Ecology of Biosphere” laboratory (PhD, Senior Researcher O.P. Ibragimova, PhD, Senior Researcher A.S. Omarova, PhD student, Researcher K. Tursun, PhD candidate, Senior Researcher B.O. Bukenov), they conducted an analysis of the sources of PM2.5 particles collected in the cities of Astana and Almaty. Additionally, the air masses were analyzed using the HYSPLIT model, and the composition of particles in both cities was studied.
The research was conducted as part of the program “Development of a research program to improve air quality in the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty using modern analytical methods and modeling tools” (IRN BR10965258), led by Associate Professor, PhD N. Baimatova.
The joint research by scientists from the Department of Analytical, Colloid Chemistry and Technology of Rare Element with international colleagues significantly contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 13.1 “Research on Climate Action” and 17.2 “Partnerships to Support the Sustainable Development Goals”).
