The exhibition ‘Promoting the Spirit of the Silk Road’ was opened
An art exhibition ‘Promoting the spirit of the Silk Road, promoting mutual understanding and affinity’, timed to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Al-Farabi KazNU and the dedication of the branch of the North-West Polytechnic University (NWPU) in Kazakhstan in 2024, has opened in Al-Farabi KazNU.
The opening ceremony of the new academic year and the art exhibition was organised jointly by NWPU Kazakhstan branch and Al-Farabi KazNU. The event was opened by Yerkin Duisenov, Acting Deputy Chairman of the Board and First Vice-Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU. He emphasised the importance of the event, timed to the anniversary of the university and the beginning of the academic year. The first vice-rector spoke about the establishment of the branch of NWPU (PRC), opened in October last year on the basis of an agreement. ‘Currently, 70 master's students are studying in the branch, 14 of them entered last year, this year the number has increased to 56 master's students. The first-year master students of the branch are currently conducting fruitful scientific research in NWPU (Xi'an, PRC). Upon completion of studies in the branch, master's students will receive diplomas of KazNU and NWPU, corresponding to international standards. Graduates of the branch will be able to work in any country of the world and will be in demand as specialists’, - Erkin Ermanovich emphasised, thanking the partners of the project.
Ms Jiang Wei, Consul General of the People's Republic of China, expressed her sincere gratitude and deep respect to the leadership of the two universities for the cooperation and development of NWPU branch in Kazakhstan, and noted that this is not only a support for friendship and cooperation between the two universities, but also an important step in the cooperation of higher education between China and Kazakhstan.
The event was also addressed by Li Xiaosong, director of the museum of Northwestern Polytechnic University, Gulaim Zhumabekova, director of the Abylkhan Kasteev State Art Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Jin Gang, curator of the international art exhibition of the Silk Road International Art Festival and secretary of the curators‘ committee of the Shaanxi Provincial Artists’ Association, and others.
The opening ceremony of the new academic year of the NWPU Branch in Kazakhstan continued with the presentation of certificates to master's students entering in 2024, and a musical performance by gymnasts, as well as a demonstration of Chinese tea art.
Art is the common language of mankind. The art exhibition ‘Promoting the Spirit of the Silk Road, Promoting Mutual Understanding and Affinity’ showcased the multicultural art and culture of the Silk Road civilisation from China to Central Asia, the spiritual and cultural qualities of China, and a new perspective on cultural exchange between Kazakhstan and China.
