Joint projects with the Committee of Geodesy and Cartography are launched

 In the walls of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi was held a discussion of the prospects of cooperation in the field of geoinformation technologies and their application in the educational process.

 

Mr Yerkin Duisenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board - First Vice-Rector of the University, held talks with Mr Richard Budden, Deputy Director General of ESRI for the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia regions and representatives of ESRI and the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 

The First Vice-Rector told the guests about the university's research activities, educational programmes and joint projects with international institutions. As noted by Vice-Rector Yerkin Duisenov, this meeting is of great importance for the development of research and education at the University, as ESRI is one of the world's leading companies in the development of software for mapping and analysing spatial information.

During the meeting the parties discussed a number of key issues of cooperation in the field of education, research, development of joint programmes.  In turn, Richard Budden noted that KazNU is one of the leading universities in Central Asia and the establishment of partnerships with it is an important step towards strengthening ties between the scientific and business environment. He also spoke about the possibilities of application of GIS (geographic information system) technologies in scientific projects and research, the prospects of introducing ESRI technologies in the training courses of the university.

At the end of the meeting a memorandum on mutually beneficial co-operation between Al-Farabi KazNU and the Committee of Geodesy and Cartography of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan (ICRIAP) was signed.
