Scholars discussed the history of the Kazakh literary language
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Professor, Academician Rabiga Satigalikyzyzy Syzdyk, an international scientific-theoretical conference on ‘Kazakh literary language and the formation of norms: theory and practice’ was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The scientific event was attended by scientists from Japan, Russia, Yakutia, Bashkortostan, Turkey and other countries, teachers of KazNU and students.
At the conference, Altay Kazmagambetov, a member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Al-Farabi KazNU, noted that Rabiga Syzdyk is an outstanding personality who devoted her life to the study of the Kazakh language, in particular, its orthography and orthoepy. ‘The contribution of a prominent representative of Kazakh language science, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Rabiga Syzdyk in the development of the Kazakh literary language today remains a legacy from generation to generation’, - said the Vice-Rector.
In turn, the rector of the International Taraz Innovation Institute named after Sh. Murtaza, Professor Makhmetgali Sarybekov noted the spiritual national values, which occupy an important place in the works of the scientist-turkologist. ‘As a proof, we can highlight the first work of the academician devoted to the creative heritage of A.Baitursynov’. He called this study a real feat accomplished in Soviet times, when the study of the creativity of Alash intellectuals was fraught with great risks.
The scientist Rabiga Syzdyk, who received the blessing of academician-writer Mukhtar Auezov, is the author of scientific works on the history of the Kazakh literary language, the language of medieval written monuments related to the Kazakh language, historical lexicology, linguistic stylistics, textual studies, psycholinguistics, language culture, the formation of language norms and other areas. The scientist paid special attention to the history of the Kazakh literary language, studied the language of poets-zhyrau XV-XIX centuries, the language of medieval written monuments relating to the Kazakh language. She published such monographs as ‘History of the Kazakh literary language of the XVIII-XIX centuries’, ‘History of the Kazakh literary language’, ‘Orally developed Kazakh literary language’.
Rabiga Syzdyk - Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, Turkic scholar, corresponding member of the society ‘Turk dil korumi’, Honoured Scientist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Shokan Ualikhanov Prize, the orders of ‘Parasat’ and ‘Barys’.
Independent Director of the Board of Directors of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor Karimbek Kurmanaliev, Associate Professor of the Department of Modern Turkish Dialects and Literature of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Nigde University Omer Halisdemir, Dr Esra Yavuz Ajar and other scholars made a report at the conference. The participants discussed in detail the history of the modern Kazakh literary language, new directions in language education and Turkology.
