Exploring the Turkic world of Eurasia

The international scientific and practical conference "The Turkic world of Eurasia" was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The event was presented by 75-year-old Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Kalkaman Zhumagulov. At the opening of the conference, Dean of the Faculty of History Dosbol Baigunakov made a positive speech and noted the achievements of the scientist.

Kalkaman Tursinuly is the director of the RSRC for the study of universal history, honorary academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, professor at the University of Göttingen, holder of the order of "Qurmet".

K.Zhumagulov began his scientific career in 1972 as a professor at the Department of General History of S.M.Kirov Kazakh State University. Since then, the scientist has passed all the stages of professional growth from assistant to professor, dean of the faculty, head of the department, academician.

In his speech, the chairman of the "Parasat" trade union, candidate of historical sciences, and associate professor Talgat Mekebayev emphasized the achievements of professor K. Zhumagulov, the only scientist in Kazakhstan to be a six-time recipient of the DAAD (Germany) International Grant.

Kalkaman Zhumagulov is the first Kazakh historian and medievalist, the author of about 500 works. Under his leadership, 16 PhD dissertations and 8 doctoral dissertations (PhD), as well as numerous master's theses were defended.

The plenary session was also attended by: Head of the department of world history, historiography and source studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, candidate of historical sciences, professor Ryskeldy Myrzabekova, head of the department of history of Kazakhstan of KazNU, doctor of historical sciences, professor Bereket Karibayev, head of the department of archaeology, ethnology and museology Rinat Zhumatayev and others.

Within the framework of the international scientific and practical conference "The Turkic World of Eurasia", a presentation of the book "Gibratty Gumyr" (Kazakh University publishing house) dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Kalkaman Tursunovich Zhumagulov and a round table on the topic took place: "The Turkic world of Eurasia (V-XIV centuries) according to Western historical and archival sources and materials of the Vatican".

During the event, the participants discussed topical topics of historical science: "The world of Eurasia: from the ancient Turks to the Jochi Ulus", "The world community and Kazakhstan in the context of modern integration and modernization", etc.

The International scientific and practical conference "The Turkic World of Eurasia" was held within the framework of the project "The Turkic World of Eurasia (V-XIV centuries) on Western historical and archival sources and materials of the Vatican".
