SDG 4: FRANKFURTER BUCHMESSE WORKSHOP IN ALMATY: MODERN TRENDS IN PUBLISHING AND COPYRIGHT MANAGEMENT
The conference «Modern trends in publishing and copyright management», organized with the support of the Frankfurt Book Fair, was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty. The large-scale event became a platform for discussing the most pressing problems of the global publishing industry and sharing international experience.
The conference was attended by renowned personalities such as Juergen Boos, President and CEO of the Frankfurt Book Fair, Nicole Witt, founder of the literary agency «Martin Wittfooth», consultant and speaker Hermann Eckel, Bettina Back, international project manager and Vladka Kupska, key account management and sales manager of the Frankfurt book fair. They presented reports on current trends in the publishing industry, innovative approaches and effective methods of copyright management.
Zhanseit Tuimebayev, rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Malik Otarbayev, a distinguished literary scholar and counselor to the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan, launched the event. They discussed the role and importance of the publishing industry in the global market.
Representatives from domestic publishers and book merchants, including «Foliant», «Mektep», «Atamura», «Almatykitap», «Raritet», «Qasym Kitap» and others, attended the event on behalf of Kazakhstan. Additionally, Rustam Ali, the Chairman of the Republic of Kazakhstan's Ministry of culture and information, gave a welcoming speech to kick off the first session of the conference. In it, he gave the international guests letters of appreciation on behalf of the Ministry.
Representatives of the Frankfurt Book Fair shared their experiences and answered questions from the audience. Such topics as exporting books abroad, copyright protection and the introduction of digital technologies in publishing were especially discussed.
The Frankfurt Book Fair seminar in Almaty was an important contribution to the understanding of current trends in the global publishing industry and copyright issues. This conference provided Kazakhstan with a unique opportunity to promote the national publishing industry at the international level, exchange experience and establish new partnerships. According to the participants, such events contribute to the development of book culture in the country and facilitate the entry of Kazakhstani books into the global market.
