KazNU and NetSCI to establish a new institute

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the German scientific and educational institution NetSCI will open an Institute for the protection and conservation of diodiversity in Central Asia.

Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev and CEO of the German scientific and educational institution NetSCI Matthias Kramer signed a memorandum on the establishment of the center.

The aim of the Institute will be to promote the conservation and enhancement of biological diversity. According to the agreement, the parties will jointly implement scientific projects and attract investments in the field of environmental protection and biodiversity.

During the meeting, Matthias Kramer emphasized that the establishment of this center would serve as a foundation for developing bilateral relations.

"NetSCI GmbH was founded in 2005 and specializes in environmental technologies, knowledge transfer, and supporting innovative projects. The company actively collaborates with universities, research institutions, and enterprises. To date, we have implemented numerous projects with Central Asian countries and have substantial experience in this field. The German Ministry has supported my initiative to establish the institute. We plan to open the center in May 2025 and, to mark the occasion, bring together scientists from Kazakhstan and Germany at a joint conference," - said Matthias Kramer, General Director of the German scientific and educational institution NetSCI.

In turn, the rector of KazNU supported the initiatives of the guest of honor and noted that the higher education institution is ready to open the institute. Zhanseit Tuimebayev also stressed that the signed agreement on the establishment of a joint institute will give a powerful impetus to the development of cooperation not only between educational institutions, but also between countries as a whole.

At the end of the meeting, the head of the university presented Matthias Kramer with the "Al-Farabi" gold medal.
