Training of water management specialists

A delegation from the Huanghe Water Conservancy Technical Institute visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and discussed areas of mutually beneficial cooperation with the university's leadership.

The guests of honor were greeted by Deputy Chairman of the Board – Acting First Vice-Rector Yerkin Duisenov, who informed about the strategic cooperation of KazNU with universities of the People's Republic of China. Academic and research work is actively carried out within the framework of the signed agreements. In the 2023/24 academic year, 1 PPS, 5 doctoral students, 10 undergraduates, 66 undergraduate students were sent to universities in China. From 2022 to the present, KazNU has attracted 2 professors from China to give lectures. Currently, 869 students from China study at the university.

One of the significant events was the opening of a branch of the Northwestern Polytechnic University (NWPU) The PRC is based on the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. And today, together with the NWPU, the laboratory "5G/5.5G Communication Technologies" has been created and is successfully operating. 

"On the basis of an intergovernmental agreement, we recently received a supercomputer, and now specialists from China are carrying out commissioning work," Yerkin Ermanovich noted. – On behalf of the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, I want to thank you for your visit and express hope for further successful cooperation".

In his response, Zhou Zhiji, Vice-Rector of the Huanghe Water Conservancy Technical Institute (YRCTI), spoke about the activities of the university, located in Kaifeng, Henan Province. Over the past three years, the institute's students have received more than 780 awards in professional skill competitions. With over 90 years of experience, the institute has gained widespread recognition for its educational philosophy, focused on training technical personnel and innovative services. In conclusion, Zhou Zhiji suggested discussing opportunities for establishing a partnership in the fields of academic exchange, joint scientific and educational projects, and invited a visit to the Huanghe Institute.
