The Zhandayev readings were held at KazNU

The International scientific and practical conference XI Zhandayev readings: "Theoretical foundations and applied aspects of modern geodynamics and ecological geomorphology – as a legacy of M. Zhandayev's teachings" was held at Al-Farabi KazNU, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the department of cartography and geoinformatics

The conference was dedicated to geodynamics and ecological geomorphology, as well as to the legacy of the outstanding scientist, professor Mukatay Zhandaevich Zhandayev

The conference was attended by international scientists from the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Earth Sciences, University of Grenoble Alpes (Grenoble, France), the School of Natural Sciences and Environmental Studies, University of Tsukuba (Tsukuba, Japan), the Austrian-Central Asian Geoinformatics Center of the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I.Razzakov, and others. Representatives of leading domestic organizations in the field of natural sciences also took part. Reports were made by leading scholars from the Institute of Geography and Water Security, SIAAGS "Kostanay Regional University named after A.Baitursynov", Eurasian National University named after L.N.Gumilyov, the Ecology Laboratory of Zhetysu University (Taldykorgan), Abai KazNPU, KazNTU named after K.I.Satpayev, and others.

The conference featured the opening of an auditorium dedicated to Candidate of Geographical Sciences, associate professor Larisa Konstantinovna Veselova, an outstanding scientist and teacher whose research and contribution to the development of geographical science have left an indelible mark on scientific and educational life. The opening of the auditorium was attended by colleagues and students of L.K.Veselova, and the director of the Institute of Geography and Water Safety, doctor of Geographical Sciences, professor, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, A.R.Veselova, delivered a congratulatory speech. Medeu, director of the Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction G.T.Sitpayeva, director of the Center for Remote Sensing and GIS "Terra" B.V.Geldiyev, professor of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources S.T.Nurtazin, professor of the Department of Tourism R.K.Utekesheva, Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology M.Kurmanbayeva.

Conference participants noted the importance of integrating modern technologies such as GIS and artificial intelligence into geographical and ecological research. Issues were raised regarding the need for further development of educational programs aimed at training specialists in the fields of geoinformatics and ecology.

The scientific conference dedicated to the research of M. Zhandayev and his students in the fields of geography, geoinformatics, and ecology became an important event for the scientific community. Scientists discussed current issues related to their work and emphasized the significance of their contribution to the development of these disciplines.
