22 january, 2025

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University participates in BETT 2025, the leading international exhibition for the educational technology sector, which takes place in ExCel (London, UK).

KazNU presents its latest achievements and innovative projects at the exhibition. In particular, the Farabi Supercomputer Center, Farabi Robotics – the first industrial robotics and competency center in Central Asia, the university's IT infrastructure, the studio for recording massive open online courses (MOOCs), and virtual laboratory work. Also showcased are scientific projects such as: "Training in modeling for the oil and gas industry using virtual reality," "Hybrid deep learning model for sign language recognition aimed at creating intelligent robotic systems" and others.

The Faraby Supercomputer Center houses a supercomputer that is ranked among the top 600 supercomputers in the world. It aggregates data across AI technologies, the oil and gas industry, energy, agriculture, Earth remote sensing, and 3D modeling. The goal of Farabi Robotics is to assist industrial enterprises in mastering world-class technologies by localizing and scaling applied expertise, as well as providing training in the areas of Industry 4.0.

Due to the university's modern IT infrastructure, the informatization strategy of KazNU is successfully implemented, including the introduction of cutting-edge information technologies into the educational process, as well as the automation of the university's financial and economic activities and document management. In the studio for recording massive open online courses (MOOCs), the development and integration of MOOCs into the university's educational process are carried out.

The goal of the project "Hybrid Deep Learning Model for Sign Language Recognition Aimed at Creating Intelligent Robotic Systems" is to develop a system for real-time recognition of dynamic Kazakh sign language gestures.

The system is based on a hybrid model using MediaPipe and recurrent neural networks such as Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM). This model is characterized by the accuracy and effectiveness of gesture recognition.

The large-scale international BETТ 2025 event opens up new opportunities for the university, meeting leading experts, new scientific developments in the field of education, concluding mutually beneficial agreements, and implementing joint innovative projects.

Conferences and forums with the participation of major EdTech companies are planned to be held within the framework of the exhibition, which will last until January 24.
