The current problems of journalism in the digital age are considered

The International Scientific and Practical Conference "Continuity of Journalism Education and Science: New Principles and Relevant Research" was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the distinguished figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, journalist, public figure, and scholar Namazaly Omashov, as well as the 50th anniversary of his scientific and pedagogical activity.
The meeting was attended by Malik Otarbaev, Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan, Darhan Kydyrali, Member of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Janarbek Ashimzhan, Member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, professor Bauyrzhan Zhakyp, Chairman of the International Union of Akyns, Aitys performers, and storytellers Zhurtsin Erman, writer and expert on the Aba traditions Tursyn Zhurtbay, as well as government officials, public figures, scholars, faculty members, and students of the university.
At the international conference, a congratulatory letter from the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, was read by Malik Otarbaev. It stated: "Namazaly Omashov has honorably held responsible positions at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for many years and made significant contributions to the development of higher education. He is the author of many theoretical works. Your students are now successfully working in various fields. I express my gratitude for your dedicated work in educating the younger generation"
Darhan Kydyrali, a member of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, read a letter from the Chairman of the Senate, Maulen Ashimbayev. The letter said: "In your career, which began at Kazakh Radio, you have achieved great success. You have made a significant contribution to the development of journalism in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Your achievements in science are truly special"
In his thank-you speech, the Chairman of the Board and Rector of KazNU, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, said: "Namazaly Omashov founded the UNESCO Chair in International Journalism and Public Relations, created his own school as the Director of the Institute for Journalism Studies. As Dean, he contributed to the establishment of new departments, modern specialties, TV and radio studios, computer labs, and classrooms. Your deep search and the successes you have achieved to date have been recognized and highly appreciated by the international scientific community"
During the event, congratulatory letters from Erlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, and Lyazzat Tanysbay, Chairman of the Board of JSC "RTRC Kazakhstan" were also read.
The conference featured speeches from Bauyrzhan Zhakyp, Zhurtsin Erman, Ulugbek Esdaulat, and Sauytbek Abdrakhmanov, who reflected on Namazaly Omashov's professional achievements and personal qualities.
