The trade union "Parasat" summed up the results

The annual reporting conference of the "Parasat" trade union of the university staff was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

In his speech, the chairman of the trade union, Talgat Mekebayev, emphasized that the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, always highlights the need for constant improvement of the forms and methods of trade union activity to build a just, social state. This includes the development of flexible action strategies that take into account the changes occurring in the world.

Talgat Mekebayev noted that a strong trade union organization is a union of active, conscious, and skilled workers. Currently, there are 4,185 members registered in the trade union, including 183 veterans, united in 35 structural divisions

During the reporting period, the "Parasat" local trade union carried out work aimed at further improving the social, labor, legal, and economic protection of employees, as well as organizing their recreation, health improvement, and leisure. All the trade union events held in the past year were dedicated to the university's 90th anniversary. The "Parasat" trade union actively participated in the preparation and organization of the anniversary events.

With the involvement of the trade union, vacation schedules, internal regulations, and instructions are approved, decisions are made regarding the provision of financial assistance to university staff, and workers' appeals, including those related to individual labor disputes, are considered as part of the commissions being established.

During the reporting period, the trade union organizations of the faculties and departments held a number of events aimed at ensuring the professional, labor, socio-economic rights and interests of employees, as well as their health, employment, and social status.

The trade union arranges discounted rates for tuition fees. In the 2024-25 academic year, the children of university employees received a 25% discount. This is the largest discount ever granted and was obtained through the trade union's initiative.

Conference participants particularly noted the social partnership between the trade union and the administration, as well as the union's role in the implementation of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

The delegates voted in favor of highly evaluating the work of the trade union, approved the report of the audit commission, the work plan, and the expense budget for 2025.

Active members of the trade union committee were awarded medals and certificates of appreciation.
