Applications for the Turkic world poster contest have been launched

An international poster competition has been announced on the eve of the 10th Turkic World Documentary Film Festival, led by the Turkic World Journalists Federation and supported by government institutions, professional organizations, universities, and press organizations. One of the most important partners of the Federation of Journalists of the Turkic World, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Journalism, Department of Press and Electronic Media, actively participates in this important event, which is organized annually, and students of film and media majors, as well as teachers.
At last year's festival, Bauyrzhan Koskantuly's short documentary film, directed by Nelya Raushanova, was among the best. In addition, the Department of Publishing, Editorial and Design Arts of the Faculty of Journalism provided special support for the poster competition of the Turkic World Documentary Film Festival, and Dauren Maksuthanuly, a senior lecturer at the Department of Publishing, Editorial and Design Arts of the Faculty of Journalism, was selected as an international judge for this event. Our talented students will participate in the event with their works. Menderes Demir, Chairman of the Turkic World Journalists Federation, said in a statement regarding the competition: "Applications for the international poster competition within the framework of the 10th Turkic World Documentary Film Festival, which will be held this year, have begun. "We expect poster designs from the competition that reflect the cultural wealth of the Turkic World and the festival's image on the occasion of the festival's 10th anniversary."
The main goal of the competition is to promote the festival and present the cultural heritage of the Turkic world through a visual feast, using the power of poster design. The winning poster will be used on the festival's social media accounts, press materials, badges, jury promotional visuals, and other promotional platforms. It will also be featured in the advertisements of the finalist films and in the materials of the award ceremony. Posters participating in the competition must not have been previously published in any competition, exhibition or platform. The theme of the Turkic World and the 10th anniversary of the festival should be the main theme of the posters. The posters must contain the official logo of the festival and 10 countries (Turkey, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, North Macedonia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and North Korea) and 10 cities. Each designer can participate in the competition with a maximum of three posters. The results of the competition, which will award a prize of 10 thousand liras, will be announced on April 21, 2025. A jury of five experts from at least three different countries will determine the winning work. The 10 posters that have been awarded and deemed worthy of exhibition will be displayed at the festival gala. All designers participating in the competition are deemed to have accepted the transfer of copyright of their works to the festival management. The works may be used by the festival management for educational and informational purposes.
