The Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, met with a delegation from the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) Central Research Institute.

Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that KazNU has established direct partnerships with 60 universities and organizations from South Korea, including Seoul National University, Kangnam University, Busan University of Foreign Studies, Dongguk University, and others. The cooperation covers a wide range of areas: student and faculty exchange, implementation of joint scientific projects, invitation of professors, and supervision of PhD students. The Department of Far Eastern Studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies specializes in Korean studies.

The university successfully operates the International Center for Korean Studies, aimed at bringing together the efforts of scholars, professors, doctoral students, and students to comprehensively study the history, culture, politics, economy of Korea, and the Korean language.

In conclusion, the university leader noted that KazNU has sufficient resources for collaboration with global scientific centers. The university has great potential in the field of nuclear physics. In the area of water resources, scientific projects are being implemented at the Scientific Center for Sustainable Development and Rational Nature Management (SCDRNM) at the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management. However, there is still much work ahead, and the university is focused on developing ties with global scientific centers. A promising initiative will also be the establishment of a joint scientific center with colleagues from KHNP based at Al-Farabi KazNU.

In his response, the head of the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) Central Research Institute, Ho Cheol Shin, thanked for the hospitality and expressed readiness to exchange experiences in the field of nuclear physics with KazNU scientists and to develop mutually beneficial partnerships.

After discussing the issues of cooperation development and areas for further interaction, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding.
