Visiting Museums on the Day of Culture and National Traditions

17 march, 2025

On March 16, 2025, Kazakhstan celebrates the Day of Culture and National Traditions as part of the "Nauryzname" decade. On this day, students of the 1st and 2nd year of the educational program "6B05105 – Genetics" (curator-adviser – PhD, acting Associate Professor A.V. Lovinskaya) visited the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after Abylkhan Kasteyev and the Almaty City Museum.

The Abylkhan Kasteyev State Museum of Arts is the largest art museum in Kazakhstan and a leading research and cultural-educational center in fine arts. The museum houses an extensive collection of paintings, sculptures, and graphics by Kazakhstani masters. Among its most notable exhibits are works by the founder of the first art school on the territory of modern Kazakhstan, the Russian artist N.G. Khludov, his student, the first Kazakh artist A. Kasteyev, as well as prominent Kazakh artists such as A. Galimbayeva, G. Ismailova, M. Kenbayev, S. Mambeyev, K. Mullashev, H. Nauryzbayev, M. Telzhanov, and others. Additionally, the museum holds a significant collection of Kazakh decorative and applied arts, including felt and pile carpets, leather, and wooden products.

The Almaty City Museum, dedicated to the history of the city, is located in one of the oldest buildings – the former Verny Orphanage, built in 1878. The museum's exhibition covers the history of Almaty from ancient times to the present and is displayed in 11 halls. Among the museum's exhibits are items of Kazakh ethnography, household objects from various eras and cultures, works of fine art, and unique photographs and documents.

The Day of Culture and National Traditions allows young people to better understand and appreciate the cultural heritage of their country, emphasizing the importance of preserving it for future generations.
