National costume-the face of the nation

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University initiated one of the most important events in order to promote national values and increase respect for traditions among young people. On March 18, 2025, the staff of the university took part in a special event "National Costume – the appearance of the nation" and contributed to the popularization of traditional clothing of the Kazakh people.

Professors, teachers and students of the University on this day wore special national costumes, demonstrating the diversity of fashion culture and clothing patterns that have developed over the centuries of our people. The staff of the Department of language and general educational training of foreigners of the Faculty of pre-university education did not stand aside for this event.

The head of state also stressed the importance of popularizing the national costume: "the national costume is an important reflection of our unique national identity. We must glorify it in every possible way." At the same time, this initiative of the university is a good step towards the revival of our national culture, increasing the interest of young people in the historical heritage.

This measure is closely linked to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through the development of National Crafts, it will be possible to intensify the production of national clothing and the work of traditional craftsmen, contribute to ensuring sustainable development through the preservation of cultural heritage and its popularization in society. At the same time, the main goal of our university is to introduce the cultural heritage to young people through the promotion of national costumes, strengthen national consciousness and provide historical and cultural education.  

Through such events, the rich clothing culture of the Kazakh people will be widely promoted to the next generation, and national spiritual values will receive a new impetus. In addition, this initiative also promotes cultural and economic prosperity, supporting important aspects of sustainable development.
