Chinese Student Fan Cixi Shares Her Experience at KazNU

25 march, 2025

Fan Cixi, a first-year student majoring in "Translation Studies" at the Department of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, shares her impressions of studying and campus life.

My Student Days at KazNU

During my first few months at KazNU, I have gained many new experiences. The university is very large, with unique architectural buildings filled with a rich cultural atmosphere. There are many green areas and small gardens on campus, making it pleasant to take a walk between classes.

The professors at the Faculty of Oriental Studies are very attentive and responsible. In translation classes, they patiently correct our pronunciation and explain the grammatical and structural differences between Chinese and Russian. My classmates are also very friendly – we study together, help each other, and actively practice dialogue translation in groups. This makes learning engaging and interactive.

Here, I have made many new friends – both from Kazakhstan and other countries, including China. In our free time, we communicate in both Chinese and Russian, sharing interesting stories about our countries and cultures.

Although I am only a first-year student, I already have clear goals. I aim to deepen my knowledge of translation, improve my proficiency in Chinese and Russian, and gain more hands-on translation experience. In the future, I hope to work in Chinese-Russian translation and contribute to cultural exchange between the two countries.

My time at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has been enriching and exciting. I look forward to the rest of my student life and will strive to become even better!
