"Media and Society: McLuhan's Theories and Their Impact on Modernity"

Undergraduates of the Department of Philosophy undergo pedagogical practice

Master's student Fariza Kairatovna, under the guidance of senior lecturer of the Department of Philosophy, teacher of the course "Media and Society" Doszhan Balabekuly, held an open lecture on the topic "Theories of Media Herbert Marshall McLuhan" and an open seminar on the topic "Media Message," "Global Village"
At an open lecture, we analyzed the concepts of media of the Canadian philosopher, philologist, literary critic, media and communications theorist Marshall McLuhan, got acquainted with his book "Understanding Media: External Human Development." According to McLuhan, the entire external development of a person belongs to the category of "media," and they interpret the human essence in the physical, social and cultural space, demonstrating their attitude to the world. Also at the lecture, McLuhan's theory of "hot and cold means of communication" was explained.
During the open seminar, we, together with students, analyzed the big concepts of Marshall McLuhan "Media Messages," "Global Village." In the concept of "Global Village," the concepts of the development of the Internet, the absence of inter-Internet borders, and the state were voiced. In addition, speaking about the philosophies of D. Bell, E. Toffler, Z. Brzezinski, K. Galbraith in the formation of a post-industrial society, it can be stated that Marshall McLuhan continues this understanding. Based on these topics, students were looking for answers to questions, various cognitive games were held. The open seminar was attended by the head of practice, senior lecturer of the Department of Philosophy, associate professor of the Department of PhD Doszhan Balabekovich and associate professor of the Department of Philosophy, PhD, deputy head of the department for educational, methodological and educational work Zhumagul Nurdauletovna and praised the seminar.
