The IV International Farabi Forum dedicated to the 1155th anniversary of Abu Nasr al-Farabi has started at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University
The main purpose of the traditional annual Farabi Forum is to explain the spiritual, historical and philosophical foundations of the development of modern society through the rich legacy of al–Farabi, to unite domestic and foreign scientists studying the thinker's legacy, and to create a new platform for dialogue and cooperation between the world's leading scientists.
The forum is attended by more than 100 university scientists from far and near abroad, the USA, Russia, Italy, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Syria, Egypt, Iran.
The large-scale event kicked off with the international scientific and practical conference "Al-Farabi's Legacy in the History of mankind." It was opened by Erkin Duisenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board and First Vice–Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. "Thanks to the fundamental research of domestic scientists, the name Abu Nasr al-Farabi has become a cultural symbol, and his legacy, rooted in Turkic culture and spirituality, has become a source of Kazakh culture and our national pride", - said the first vice–rector, wishing the participants success in the conference.
Distinguished guests also spoke at the opening of the conference: Ayhan Korkmaz, Adviser on Education at the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Almaty, Salih Albedah, Deputy Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Hossein Agazade, Director of the Cultural Representation of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty, Sami Derekh, Honorary Consul of Syria in Kazakhstan, and others.
During the plenary session, renowned scientists, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the Department of Philosophy of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Scientific Adviser to the Al-Farabi Center, Zhakypbek Altaev, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Head of the Department of History of Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Rudn University, specialist in Arab-Muslim philosophy, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Nur Karibayev (Russia), Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Chief Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy, Natalia Seitakhmetova (Kazakhstan), PhD in Political Science and Religious Studies, and others presented reports on topical issues of modern Farabi studies. The work of the conference continued during the breakout sessions.
The forum will include the second meeting of the Kazakh Committee of the Philosophical Society of Turkic Peoples, the presentation of 10 volumes of "Farabitanu", books "Zhihanger Gulama", an international scientific conference "The phenomenon of translation civilization: based on the legacy of al-Farabi and Turkic scientists", a discussion platform "The role of al-Farabi in the formation of philosophical terminology: the language of philosophy" and other events.
During the forum, the philosophy of al-Farabi and the spiritual heritage of the Kazakh people will be studied, various forms of discourse in the knowledge of spirituality will be identified. A scientific collection of materials will be published based on the results of the forum.
