School Students Presented Innovative Projects at the “Initiation into Science” Section of the “Farabi Álemi” Conference

On April 3, 2025, the working commission of the 5th section “Initiation into Science (among school students)” convened as part of the “Farabi Álemi” International Conference of Students and Young Scientists held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The event took place at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology.
Chair of the Commission – Aida Serikovna Kistaubaeva, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Acting Professor, Head of the Department of Biotechnology.

Commission members included:

• Tatyana Anatolyevna Karpenyuk – Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Biophysics and Biotechnology;
• Lyudmila Viktorovna Ignatova – Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology;
• Tatyana Anatolyevna Kolesnikova – Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Geography Teacher at NU “Prestige” School.

Based on the results of the section, 18 abstracts from students of various schools and lyceums were accepted for publication. A total of 15 presentations were delivered, in which students demonstrated their own scientific and practical projects. All participants received certificates and commemorative gifts.

Awardees:

1st Degree Diploma - Adildabek Alimzhan (Lyceum No. 165) — "Experience of breeding Lepidoptera at home to preserve rare species of our region."

2nd Degree Diploma - Eva Nasyrova and Safina Nosareva (NU “Prestige” School) — "Development of a lactose- and sugar-free dietary curd paste with added probiotic cultures."

2nd Degree Diploma - Mayra Zhaksybekova and Zhansulu Mukhtar (Lyceum No. 8 named after Y. Gagarin) — "Development of bath bombs based on metabolites of Artemisia absinthium and Bacillus subtilis."

3rd Degree Diploma - Ilya Iskanderov (Gymnasium No. 111) — "Nutritional supplement from microalgae and Lactobacillus bacteria (iodine-enriched functional product)."

3rd Degree Diploma - Bogdan Kim and Saveliy Senkovei (Gymnasium No. 120 named after Mazhit Begalin) — "The effect of various substances on the formation of plant root systems."

3rd Degree Diploma - Zeynep Upagali and Aizere Kurmanbai (Lyceum No. 126) — "Changes in teachers' cognitive abilities."

The “Initiation into Science” section became a significant platform for school students to take their first steps in research and demonstrate their scientific potential in the field of biology and biotechnology.
