In the framework of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine, and Neuroscience held a training seminar on the topic "Youth against drugs."
On April 17, 2025, a "Youth against drugs" training seminar was held at the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine, and Neuroscience. The event was organized within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, aimed at creating a just and sustainable society.
The event was attended by 1st year students of the specialty "Biomedicine" 6B05108 Biomedicine. Keynote speeches: it was noted that currently, the drug problem is acute in different countries of the world, including Kazakhstan. Drug addiction causes great harm not only to the health of young people but also to the entire society. In particular, we considered the harm of drug addiction and ways to combat it. Combating drugs is the responsibility of every person, society and the state.
The main goal is to explain to students the harms of drug addiction and to explore social, psychological and legal ways to combat drug abuse among young people.
Special attention was paid to the importance of education and legal literacy, social support and proper upbringing of young people in the fight against drugs. Participants also discussed the role of education and scientific research in solving this problem. At the end of the event, the need for more frequent drug prevention activities at the university was emphasized. These programs should be aimed at explaining to young people the harmful effects of drugs and protecting them from addiction. Such events should provide young people with accurate information about the consequences of drug use and its psychological and social impact. Recommendations were made to increase confidence in this regard. The organizers expressed the hope that the results of the event will serve as a basis for future initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable development in Kazakhstan.
