The Cryptology Student Olympiad was held

The Republican student Olympiad on the Cryptology educational program was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.  It was attended by talented students from different universities of the country.

The purpose of the Olympiad is to increase the knowledge and motivation of young specialists in the field of cryptographic methods and information security. The event was attended by students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, GUM named after L.Gumilev, KazNITU named after K.Satpayev, Almaty Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academy of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Caspian University of Technology and Engineering named after Sh.Yesenov and other universities of the country.

The Olympiad covered three stages. At the first stage, students solved problems in number theory, mathematical statistics, probability theory, discrete mathematics, and the mathematical foundations of cryptography. At the second stage, we performed a practical task related to cryptography and cryptanalysis. At the third stage, the participants developed a program code for solving cryptographic problems.

Thus, students competed individually and in a group format, completing complex tasks on encryption algorithms, cryptosystem analysis, and data protection methods.

As a result, Syrym Ismailov, a student of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, took the 1st place, Alisher Alpysbai (Academy of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan) and Ermek Nurbakhyt, a student of KazNU, took the 2nd place. The 3rd place was shared by students of GUM named after L.N.Gumilyov Akmaral Sagai and KazNU Veronika Fedorenko and Dauren Nazarbayev.

The winners were awarded with special diplomas and memorable gifts, and all participants were awarded certificates. According to the organizers, such Olympiads contribute to the development of scientific and technical creativity of young people, increasing interest in the field of modern digital security.
