New aspects of linguistic science development

The international round table "Teacher and Student: Horizons of Research" was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the outstanding scientist, Professor Eleonora Suleimenova.

The event was attended by researchers, teachers, doctoral students and students from different countries.

The round table meeting was opened by Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev. In his speech, highlighting the achievements and merits of the teacher and mentor Professor Eleonora Duisenovna Suleimenova, he noted that her school "is not just an academic environment, but a real laboratory of ideas, where new knowledge is born and advanced approaches to the study of language and literature are formed"

Professor Eleonora Duisenovna has made a significant contribution to the development of both domestic and international linguistics. Due to the deep fundamental education she received in Kazakhstan and Russia, her outstanding research abilities and the breadth of her scientific horizons, she created a strong scientific school specializing in general and contrastive linguistics, theoretical and applied lexicography, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, as well as theory and practice of second language acquisition.

"The bright talent of the great scientist and teacher E.D.Suleimenova, her courage, creativity, as well as the relevance of her ideas, inexhaustible creative energy, hard work, creativity, determination, exceptional human charm arouse sincere respect and continue to delight and inspire her colleagues and followers", - said the head of the university.

The meeting also featured congratulations and presentations from the participants: Dan Davidson, Honorary President of the American Councils for International Education; Vladimir Tolstoy, President of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature; Tatiana Kortava, Vice-Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University; Uldanai Bakhtigereeva, Doctor of Philology, Professor at RUDN University; Veronika Razumovskaya, Candidate of Philology, Professor at SibFU; and others.

The participants of the round table discussed new aspects, trends and prospects for the development of linguistic science and philological education. The event also included presentations of new books by Eleonora Suleimenova.
