Education

In 1963, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Kazakh State University named after S. M. Kirov with a degree in Law.
He completed training at KGB School No. 302 in Minsk and, in 1971, graduated from the Higher Diplomatic School of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  • September 1963 – Cadet at KGB School No. 302 in Minsk
  • 1963–1991 – Career officer in the KGB of the USSR: rose from operative officer to Head of the KGB Directorate of the Kazakh SSR
  • November 1991 – Head of the National Security Committee (NSC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Almaty city and Almaty region
  • June 1993 – First Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan
