An open educational session on the topic "Corruption – A Disease of Society"

On March 12, 2025, master’s students of the “7M03101 – Sociology” program at the Department of Sociology and Social Work of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University conducted an open educational session for university students on the topic “Corruption – A Disease of Society”, under the guidance of Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor G.S. Abdiraiymova, and Candidate of Sociological Sciences, academic supervisor G.A. Kenzhakimova.

The purpose of the event was to raise awareness among youth about the dangers of corruption, to promote the values of honesty and justice, and to enhance legal literacy.

During the session, students were provided with concrete information about the harmful effects of corruption on society, and were introduced to the key directions of anti-corruption policy in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The session was held in an interactive format with Q&A segments, where students actively participated and freely expressed their opinions.

Methods used:

• Interactive lecture;
• Video presentations (social videos on anti-corruption);
• Brainstorming session (“What is corruption?”);
• Group discussion (“What is the role of youth in fighting corruption?”).

At the end of the session, students were informed about the “Adaldyq Alany” project and the “Parasat Zholy” initiative, and were encouraged to uphold the principles of honesty and fairness.
