Creative Meeting Dedicated to the International Day of Families and the Anniversary of Mayra Pobedovna Kabakova

On May 2, 2025, on the eve of the International Day of Families, the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a creative meeting dedicated to this occasion and the 55th anniversary of Professor Mayra Pobedovna Kabakova.
Mayra Pobedovna Kabakova is a well-known expert in the field of family psychology in the Republic and CIS countries, the author of textbooks and monographs in this field, a leading researcher on issues of family and marriage, family upbringing, and a national expert in family policy in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The purpose of the meeting was to gather feedback in the field of education and research in family psychology, to hear from students and postgraduates about their level of knowledge in this area, and to congratulate Professor Mayra Pobedovna Kabakova on her anniversary.
The event aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 4 “Quality Education”, SDG 3 “Health and Well-being”, and SDG 17 “Partnerships for the Goals”.
The meeting was opened by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor A.O. Omirbekova. She emphasized the importance of preparing young people for family life, preserving the traditions of family education, and developing scientific research in the field of family psychology. She read out addressed congratulations from the Vice President of the Academy of Public Administration (Astana), Doctor of Philosophy, Professor A.R. Masalimova, and the Director of the Al-Farabi Scientific, Educational and Cultural Center of the Sofia University named after St. K. Ohrid, Violeta Dobichina (Bulgaria).
The moderator of the event, Head of the Department of General and Applied Psychology A.K. Mynbayeva, gave the floor to international guests. Dr. Tatiana Nikolaevna Listopad, Professor of Psychology from Tallinn (Estonia), warmly congratulated the honoree and recognized her as a fellow researcher in the field of family psychology.
Professor Roza Bisenovna Abdrakhmanova represented Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.
To mark the occasion of the International Day of Families and the anniversary of M.P. Kabakova, a special issue of the journal Psychology in School was published. It was presented by Editor-in-Chief Aknur Kainarovna Olzhaeva. She also congratulated the jubilee on behalf of the journal's editorial board, presenting an address folder and gifts, noting the significant contribution of Prof. M.P. Kabakova as a member of the journal's editorial board for 13 years.
Next were speeches by early graduates and former students of Karaganda State University: Dauirkhan Seidalievich Kozhakhmetov, now Director of the Student House No. 1 in Almaty, and Natalia Nikolaevna Li, HR Director and board member of the Alageum Electric Group. They fondly recalled their student years and Professor Kabakova's influence as a mentor.
Several colleagues and friends joined the meeting online from Finland and Russia:
- Vasiliy Savvovich Beloly, independent researcher and psychologist, and Nadezhda Alexandrovna Beloly, researcher and art trainer (Finland);
- Nadezhda Egorovna Razuvaeva is a teacher-psychologist from St. Petersburg, a wedding witness.
- Nina Vladimirovna Korotkova, PhD in clinical psychology, a psychologist specializing in neuropsychology (France) is a colleague, a classmate.
Colleagues from E.A. Buketov Karaganda University also joined online. Doctor of Psychology, Professor Bibisara Amirova shared memories of Professor Kabakova's early years and highlighted her contribution to the development of family psychology in Kazakhstan. Also, a creative poetic congratulation was delivered by Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Professor of Karaganda University, Roza Togayovna Alimbayeva.
A quiz titled “Best Expert in Family and Marriage Psychology” was held for students and postgraduates, conducted by master's student Zhanna Manarbekova. The participants actively and enthusiastically answered questions about family upbringing, psychological research, diagnostics of family relationships, and advice for improving family life for young people.
The next congratulatory message came from Svetlana Borisovna Selyunina, Director of the “Asel Baiseitova Charitable Foundation.” She emphasized the importance of student youth volunteer activities and highlighted Professor M.P. Kabakova’s active involvement in them.
Professor Gulnara Orlenbaevna Nasimova, Doctor of Political Sciences and Head of the Department of Political Science and Political Technologies, also gave a congratulatory speech.
The next contest was dedicated to creative congratulations for the International Day of Families and “Best Anniversary Greeting.” Participants included 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science, the Faculty of Geography, students of the “Psychology” and “Geography” programs, 1st and 2nd-year master's students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science, as well as alumni from various years and colleagues from different universities.
The most creative and large-scale video greeting, involving the greatest number of participants, was sent by psychologists from Astana under the leadership of Acting Professor of ENU Anar Biralovna Valieva. This included colleagues from the A.K. Kussainov Eurasian Humanitarian Institute: Professor Aizhan Tendikovna Izakova, Professor Tatyana Anatolyevna Abdrashitova, and Senior Lecturer Zhanagul Yesemberdievna Turmanova. From Turan-Astana University: Professor Serik Krykbaevich Zhantikeev. From L.N. Gumilyov ENU: Associate Professor Mayra Namgenovna Kunantayeva, Senior Lecturer Gulmira Sarsenbayevna Bekeyeva, Associate Professor Zhanna Tlegenovna Utalieva, Assistant Professor Madina Mukhametkaliyevna Ryskulova, Assistant Professor Bibianar Shaimerdenovna Baizhumanova, Associate Professor Gulden Kanatovna Aykinbayeva, Professor Zhanat Kanashevna Aubakirova, Professor Marta Naushayevna Abdikalikova, Associate Professor Gulnaz Maratovna Karibayeva, Associate Professor Zhamilya Targynovna Makhambetova, Senior Lecturer Aizat Zhaidarkhanovna Kunantayeva, and Senior Lecturer Lyudmila Magomedovna Gitikhmaeva. Also among the participants were psychologists from other institutions in Astana: Professor Manshuk Kuandykovna Bokenchina, Professor Zhanar Danagatovna Zhukesheva, and Zakira Zhuldybaevna Alekpaeva — a former graduate student of Professor M.P. Kabakova from KarGU.
The event concluded with a speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor Bekzhan Berikbaevich Meyirbaev. He highlighted Professor Kabakova’s contributions to the faculty, the development of international cooperation with Bulgaria and other European and Central Asian countries, and presented her with a traditional Kazakh gift – a chapan-kamzol (national cloak).
Finally, representatives of the department gave their congratulations: A.K. Mynbayeva, Professor S.K. Berdibayeva, Associate Professor A.L. Nurmakhanbetov, Professor A.Kh. Aimagambetova, and Associate Professor F.S. Tashimova.
After this, the results of the quiz and competition for students and postgraduates were summed up, the best participants were awarded diplomas, commemorative certificates and prizes from the hero of the day.
