Representatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took part in the international Silk Road E-Commerce International Think Tank Alliance Annual Conference, held in Shanghai. It is a global platform that unites the leading universities, research centers and technology companies of the Silk Road countries.
In May 2024, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University received the status of the founder of the Silk Road E-Commerce International Think Tank Alliance and the corresponding certificate. Within the framework of the Alliance, the University consistently develops international scientific and academic cooperation.
On behalf of the university, the head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data of the Faculty of Information Technology, Professor Madina Mansurova, participated in the conference, making a presentation. In her speech, she presented the concrete results of KazNU's cooperation with one of China's leading universities, Fudan University (https://www.topuniversities.com/universities/fudan-university ), as well as with other leading universities and industrial companies in China.
Since 2024, Fudan University professor Siming Chen and Yangwei Fu have launched a joint research project with KazNU through targeted funding for the development of digital twins. Currently, KazNU doctoral students Madina Suleimenova and Dinargul Mukhamedzhanova are undergoing a scientific internship at Fudan University and actively participate in international research.
In addition, in June 2025, 20 student teams led by experienced KazNU leaders submitted projects to the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (CICSIC), organized by PILC China. It should be noted that students of the Faculty of Information Technology are regular participants and prize-winners of international Chinese research competitions.
In the spring of 2025, an offline meeting of representatives of Fudan University was held for undergraduates and doctoral students of KazNU, where students were told in detail about the rules for applying to Chinese universities and available academic programs.
These initiatives demonstrate KazNU's successful integration into the international scientific space and its leadership position in the field of digital transformation. Today, KazNU is recognized as the key intellectual center of Central Asia in the field of digital economy, cross-border research and innovation. Cooperation within the framework of the Silk Road E-Commerce International Think Tank Alliance is an integral part of this strategic development and opens up new opportunities for successful cooperation between science, industry and education.
