KazNU’s Faculty of Physics and Technology at the Central Asia Talent Exchange Forum in China: Strengthening Scientific Partnership and Advancing SDG 17

On June 16, 2025, the Central Asia Talent Exchange Forum officially opened at the Harbin Engineering University (People’s Republic of China), organized with the support of the Chinese Ministry of Education and leading Chinese universities. The forum aims to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation between Central Asian countries and China, and to create new opportunities for students, young researchers, and faculty members.

Representing Al-Farabi Kazakh National University at the forum are:

  • the Director of the Department of International Cooperation;

  • the Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology;

  • faculty members from the Department of Theoretical and Nuclear Physics.

During scientific sessions, panel discussions, and working meetings, KazNU representatives discussed with Chinese partners the prospects of bilateral cooperation in engineering, technical, and natural sciences. Particular attention was given to:

  • academic exchange and internships;

  • joint master’s and PhD programs;

  • international research projects in energy, materials science, electronics, and nuclear physics.

KazNU’s participation in the forum supports the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically:

  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: expanding international collaboration and integrating universities into global scientific and educational networks.

The forum became a unique international platform facilitating the integration of universities from Kazakhstan and China into the global science and education ecosystem.
