A summer school for international students has started at KazNU

KazNU has launched the II International summer school for international students on the topic: "Environmental protection: methods for assessing anthropogenic impact on geosystems, society, education, culture and worldview". The event is attended by students and teachers of Xinjiang University of the People's Republic of China.
The aim of the project is to create an international youth platform for achieving the UN SDGs by bringing together like–minded people on sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
At the opening ceremony, the participants were welcomed by Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board, Vice–Rector for Research and Innovation. He noted that KazNU actively cooperates with Chinese universities, and about 700 agreements have been signed with universities in China, Europe and other countries.
"Expanding cooperation with Chinese universities, KazNU held a large scientific exhibition in Xinjiang last year, presenting innovative projects".- the vice–rector emphasized. "Joint work is underway within the framework of scientific and educational projects. In 2026, we plan to launch a microsatellite worth $5 million, and we are currently working on the implementation of this and other projects. I am glad to welcome you to our university. I wish you productive work and vivid impressions!". - said Vice Rector Margulan Ibraimov.
The rich program of the summer school covers 72 academic hours, including theoretical lectures, practical exercises and scientific and educational excursions to the Almaty State Nature Reserve, the Ayusai Visitor Center (the Great Almaty Gorge), the Charyn Canyon and the sights of Almaty.
The summer school will last two weeks. Lectures and practical exercises on the basis of the Kazakh-Chinese Laboratory "Technology of Remote Sensing and their Applications" are conducted by the university faculty, PhD doctors and experts from the UNESCO Department of Sustainable Development.
At the closing ceremony of the summer school on July 8, all participants will be awarded certificates, as well as a friendly evening aimed at strengthening international student cooperation and developing environmental awareness.
