KazNU is taking a course on managing supercomputer systems

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has launched a specialized course for employees of the Farabi Supercomputer Center, organized with the support of the international company ZTE. The training is aimed at developing competencies in the field of high-performance computing (HPC) and effective management of supercomputer systems.
The course program includes an in-depth study of the architecture and applications of supercomputers, methods of their deployment and management of HPC systems, installation and configuration of system and user modules, as well as effective work with task schedulers (SLURM) and the use of Conda and other environment management tools. Participants will master advanced technologies needed to solve complex scientific and engineering problems.
As noted by Amirkhan Temirbayev, General Director of the KazNU Cluster of Engineering and High-tech Technologies, the training takes place in a mixed format. Theoretical lectures are complemented by practical exercises based on real cases. This will allow Farabi Supercomputer Center specialists to apply their knowledge in the field of HPC to scientific, engineering and industrial tasks, including forecasting climatic conditions, modeling physical processes, bioinformatics, big data processing and much more.
This course is an important step in the development of supercomputing technologies in Kazakhstan, strengthening cooperation between KazNU and world leaders in the field of HPC.
